Why This Site Exists
Choosing a name for your child is one of the most sacred responsibilities in Islam. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught that on the Day of Judgment, we will be called by our names and the names of our fathers — and so he instructed the Ummah to choose beautiful names.
Yet the vast majority of Muslim baby name resources online are built by teams with no meaningful connection to Islamic tradition. Meanings are copied without verification. Quranic references are missing or wrong. Cultural depth is flattened into a search bar and a popularity list.
Islamic Naming was built to change that.

The Founder

Founder & Director
Zain is the Director of Zarrar Tech, a Pakistan-based digital media company building a portfolio of high-authority reference sites. Based in the Rawalpindi/Islamabad region, Zain leads a team of researchers, editors, developers, and designers who share a deep respect for Islamic tradition.
Islamic Naming is one of ten sites Zarrar Tech is building over the next twelve months — and it's the one closest to Zain's heart. As a Muslim who grew up watching family members struggle to find authentic, well-sourced Muslim baby names online, he set out to build the resource he wished had existed.

Our Editorial Process
Every name page passes through a structured workflow before it goes live:
- Research: A researcher gathers meaning, etymology, Arabic script, script variants, historical bearers, and any Quranic or Hadith references.
- Source verification: Every religious claim is cross-checked against authentic sources — the Quran itself, the six major Hadith collections, and classical Arabic lexicons.
- Editorial polish: The editor refines language, structure, and SEO.
- Scholar review: Names with religious significance are reviewed by a qualified scholar before publish.
- Ongoing correction: We update pages when readers or scholars identify improvements. See our Editorial Standards for the full process.
What We Don't Do
- We do not issue religious rulings (fatwas). We provide information; consult a local scholar for personal religious guidance.
- We do not fabricate meanings or historical figures. If a source cannot be verified, we say so.
- We do not take sectarian sides. Where naming preferences differ across schools of thought, we note the difference respectfully.
- We do not include names that are clearly outside Islamic tradition, even where they might be trendy.
- We do not promote numerology or superstitious naming practices that lack scholarly grounding.
